The birth process is one of the most physically demanding events we experience, for both moms and babies! As the baby passes through the birth canal, the soft bones of the skull often overlap due to the contractile forces of the uterus. This natural “molding” usually resolves on its own through feeding and crying in the days following birth. However, in some cases, these strains remain.
Certain birth factors can increase the likelihood of unresolved strain, such as:
Abnormal fetal positioning during pregnancy, breech or face presentations
Difficult, rapid deliveries, premature births or cesarean deliveries
Interventions including forceps, vacuum-assisted and inductions.
Some common infant symptoms, where Osteopathy can help include:
